clutch and damper

Precise analysis of torsional vibrations, valve dynamics and transmission errors for the automotive industry,
energy & mechanical engineering.

Problem: Crankshaft torsion, clutch slip

Goal: Optimised clutch design

Analyses in the time domain

Analysis of static and dynamic deformations, angular accelerations (screeching rattles) and the torsion angle
Starting and stopping behaviour
Flywheel wobble

Measurement and evaluation

In the clutch measurement shown in the illustration, the speed is measured using a magnetic sensor:

on the starter ring gear and

on the transmission input shaft.

Important analyses include:
Torsion angle between the engine and gearbox side
Slip
Order analysis
Angular accelerations in the gearbox (gearbox rattle)

Analyses in the spectral domain

Analysis of the dynamic excitations

Checking the decoupling behaviour of the coupling

Resonance behaviour of the overall system

Change in the natural frequencies of the ambient condition

Dynamic peak loads

Sensors and measurement technology from Rotec

The Rotec product portfolio includes numerous speed sensors (laser and magnetoresistive), which can be used depending on the installation.

Rotec offers speed measurement cards with a clock frequency of 12.3 GHz for high-resolution detection of the angle of rotation between two speed signals.
In addition, analogue signals can be recorded with a resolution of up to 24 bits and a sampling rate of 3.2 MHz. This makes it possible to precisely analyse the relationship between torsional vibrations and noise generation, for example.

The recorded measured values are analysed in the time and spectral domain.
